About Me

I graduated from Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston, Texas, with combined MD and PhD degrees. My doctorate work was in the field of Neuroscience, where I focused on neurodevelopmental mechanisms of neuropsychiatric disorders. Early on in my medical training I was drawn to psychiatry as a field where science and heart met in the care of those burdened by often invisible wounds. I have completed my residency training in Adult Psychiatry at Columbia University, where I was also a Levy Neuroscience Research Fellow. In addition to my private practice, I am currently a NIH-supported research fellow in the Psychiatry Department at Columbia University, where I continue to study neurobiological mechanisms of psychiatric disorders.

Born and raised in Brazil, I speak fluent Portuguese, which may facilitate communication should clients prefer sessions to be conducted in Portuguese. I am also proficient in Spanish.
